StereoLoud(EST) is the third installment of a trilogy of work by Detroit-bred, Charlotte-based underground hip-hop duo, StereoLoud. Exactly and DJ Ray collaborate and expand with each progression of the series. From StereoLoud, to StereoLouder to StereoLoudest, the energy heightens, the soundscape widens and the personal experience becomes more vibrant.

In this final, self-titled masterpiece, each track flows into the next with lines between them so blurred, the piece in its entirety could be one cohesive song. StereoLoudest is melodic and catchy, yet complex and emotional with replay value that has the listener gaining new insight with each play. Balancing a battle cry with zen meditation, Exactly has a calming acceptance of the world’s current state while also questioning it’s very foundation. Against-the-grain lyrics come out effortlessly through a smirking mean mug. (The soundscape echoes and reverberates a rich story that can manipulate time.)

Exactly’s unique flow is flexible yet mechanical, a raw sound that pairs with DJ Ray’s technically intoxicating production. A meal for the mind, with a psychedelic nightmare as dessert. The creative chefs of StereoLoud are not afraid to season substance with humor. Lighthearted lines and pop-culture references can be peppered into painful events with a grit that only emerges from real life. And even in dire circumstances, there is never a bleak or victimizing (self-pitying?) outlook. It’s a soundtrack that spurs action. Motivation to uplift in a “let’s-kick-some-ass” kind of way.

StereoLoudest was mixed and mastered by executive producer Aswell, considered by some as the hip-hop mayor of Charlotte, NC and internationally renowned MASCHINE virtuoso. The final polish needed for this gem of an album.
